A very nice, private purchase, WW II era, Officer’s visor cap. The metal stiffener has been removed to give the hat a “crusher” look. It is made with a high quality, OD green, fur felt, with a green mohair hat band. The visor is a stiff russet brown leather and has an interior soft leather sweatband. The chin strap is secured by two, 1902 “Great Seal” gilt hat buttons. On the front is mounted a detailed, Army Officer’s, gilt eagle hat badge with a screw back fastener. The hat may have had a back strap, at one time, no longer present. The tag, inside, reads, “REGULATION ARMY OFFICERS SERVICE CAP”. The tag, inside the cap, says it is size “7 3/8”.
